The visit which took place at the Assembly premises in Lafia was to formally introduce Phoenix University to the Speaker who incidentally represents the Constituency where the University is located.
Speaking during the courtesy call, the Vice-Chancellor informed the Speaker that the university was set up to provide additional manpower for Nasarawa State by building a highly skilled human resource base that can adequately contribute to the development of the State and Nigeria at large. The VC reeled out the specialist programmes which the University runs with hopes to expand on the courses in due time. He therefore challenged the Speaker and other members of the Assembly to consider sponsoring their constituents to undertake courses with the university.
Responding, the Speaker congratulated the management team on their appointment as the pioneer leaders of the university stating that they stood in prime position to set the University in a position of leadership in the state. He commended the proprietor of the University for setting it up, noting that he was the one who laid the foundation of educational development in the state. He assured of the support of the House of Assembly to the growth and development of the University.
In attendance at the meeting were members of the education committee of the House as well as the Registrar and Librarian of the University.
