The Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed I has expressed immense joy over the establishment of Phoenix University, Agwada. The Emir made his feeling known when the management of Phoenix University, led by the Vice Chancellor, paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace in Lafia, the capital city of Nasarawa State.

Justice Bage Mohammed I who is also the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Traditional Council stated that when he heard of the establishment of the University, it came to him as the best news of the year. He congratulated the founder and proprietor of the university on the bold step he has taken to set it up. He noted that the proprietor was well known for taking bold steps and it was therefore no surprise that he decided to establish the new university. He noted that there were many citizens of Nasarawa State who had the means to make such investments in various areas of human endeavour but failed to do so.

Justice Mohammed I took time to go down memory lane when he recalled that Senator Adamu was the one who laid the roadmap for the educational development of Nasarawa State when he established the Nasarawa State University, Keffi. That institution, according to the Emir, has remained the crowning glory of education in the state.

The Emir congratulated the management of Phoenix University, noting that they were well placed and qualified to build the foundations for a world class university. He prayed for them to succeed in their endeavours.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdullahi Bala, stated that the management of the University were at the Palace of the Royal Father to appraise him of the establishment of the University and to seek his support and that of the traditional council in growing the university. He sought the support of the council in advertising the establishment of the university to their subjects. The Vice Chancellor also used the opportunity to congratulate the Emir on the 5th anniversary of his ascension to the throne of his forefathers.

Accompanying the Vice Chancellor on the visit were the Registrar, Mrs. Aisha Abdulkarim Kana and University Librarian, Dr. Samuel Jimba.
