Phoenix University gets monarch’s pass marks, proprietor reveals intention

Traditional rulers of first, second , third and fourth class staff of office from Nasarawa west senatorial district, gave their royal pass mark and support on the establishment of the first indigenous university in the state. The monarchs led by the deputy chairman Nasarawa State Traditional Council of Chiefs, the Emit of Keffi Dr Shehu Usman Yamusa111 on Monday 5thFebruary 2024 stormed the newly established Phoenix University at Agwada, for assessment.

In their remarks, Dr Shehu Yamusa111, Alhaji Ibrahim Jubrin , Pharmacist Luka Panya Baba , Barrister Joel Aninge, all first class staff of office status expressed confidence in the proprietor and his vision to establish a university, knowing his pedigree and his quest for advancing development in the state

Speaking, the Emir of Keffi , Dr Shehu Yamusa111 said he was not surprised that the theperson who established the state owned university” Nasarawa State University Keffi” is the person that has single handedly established the Phoenix University. He said ” I will state here that from my workings experience as a one time university lecturer Phoenix University is second to none after Afe-Babalola University.

On his part, the Esu Karu, Pharmacist Luka Panya Baba who agreed totally with the submissions of his other colleagues of Keffi and Nasarawa, added that with the kind of facilities put on ground as witnessed, no doubt that Phoenix University is set for commencement of academic activities. ”Believe me what we have seen is awesome, particularly the Robotic Laboratory which is creating a pedestal to move with developmental trends in the area of IT ,and that is what will significantly impact on what we do in this country”.

Responding, the proprietor Phoenix University Agwada, Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the immediate past National Chairman of the APC, expressed tremendous pleasure with the traditional rulers for being part of the team that visited the university for their royal blessings. According to him, it is one thing to have a dream and quite another to bring the dream to actualisation, adding that the journey of where they are going to is not as long as where they are coming from. Senator Adamu in show of his appreciation explained that the intention for establishing the university was not for money making but rather to give back to the society by adding value to the state and the country in the area of education.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor , Professor Abdullahi Bala in his welcome address, assured the monarchs of the readiness of the university to commence academic activities after which he led them on a tour of the university’s facilities. According to him, resource verification havebeen carried out by NUC and the University is set to kick start academics activity by February ending with not less than 24 programs
