Agwada, Nasarawa State – The Vice Chancellor of Phoenix University Agwada, Professor Abdullahi Bala, has raised serious concerns over environmental pollution allegedly caused by Jui Jui Universal Investment Limited, a Chinese firm engaged in charcoal production.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barrister Isaac Danladi, Professor Bala warned that the company’s activities pose significant health risks to students, staff, and the broader community.
He emphasized that charcoal production by Jui Jui Universal Investment Limited has severely impacted the university’s learning environment and called on the state government to take urgent measures to curb the environmental degradation.
The Vice Chancellor further revealed that his visit was a follow-up on a formal complaint submitted to the ministry, while also congratulating Barrister Danladi on his recent appointment as Commissioner.
In response, Barrister Danladi expressed appreciation for the university’s engagement and assured that an inspection would be conducted to assess the situation.
He reaffirmed that large-scale charcoal production remains prohibited in Nasarawa State and warned that violators would face strict legal consequences.
The development underscores growing concerns about industrial pollution and its impact on public health and education in the state.
