Professor Adamu Alhaji Mohammed is a distinguished academic leader, Applied Mathematician, and Developer with an impressive career that spans over three decades. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, and has made significant contributions to the fields of mathematical modelling, software development, and educational leadership. His academic journey includes a Master of Technology in Applied Mathematics (2004) and a First Class B.Sc. in Mathematics (2000) from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
Appointed as the Pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Phoenix University Agwada on 7th July, 2025, Professor Adamu Alhaji Mohammed comes on board with varied experience in software development and higher education management.
Throughout his career, Professor Adamu has risen through the ranks from Assistant Lecturer to Professor at the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He has held leadership roles, such as Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) at FUT Minna, where he led technological innovations in academic systems. Additionally, he has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Computing at Phoenix University Agwada and the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution, showcasing his leadership in academic and administrative functions.
His professional expertise is further demonstrated by certifications, including Zend Certified PHP Engineer (2014), Java Programming from Oracle Academy (2019), and the International Computer Driving License (2020). Professor Adamu’s professional experience is complemented by his development of numerous applications for universities and polytechnics, such as the E-results Application, Human Resources Management System, and the Islamic Inheritance App, among others. His contributions also extend to public institutions like the Niger State Contributory Health Agency and Academic Institutions.
Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Professor Adamu is deeply committed to community development, actively engaging in scholarship programs, technical committees, and advisory roles. His dedication to societal advancement has earned him numerous accolades, including a Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation for Contribution to University Advancement and the Best Science Student Award from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
Professor Adamu is also a member of prestigious professional bodies such as the Mathematical Association of Nigeria and the Nigerian Mathematical Society.
